Fishing on the Chesapeake Bay is a unique experience. This beautiful estuary is a mix of salt and fresh water and is home to around 350 species of fish. Our local fishermen have been fishing these waters for many years and are experienced guides that have a wealth of knowledge to share. There are many options available to bring out anyone’s inner fisherman/woman.
Fish from our private dock!
Looking to fish in a more casual setting? Did you know you can fish right off our private dock and you don’t even need a fishing license! We have fishing rods and tackle that you can use and you can buy bait, tackle, and gear right down the lane at our local convenient store Island Stop. Catching dinner is just one of many activities you can do around the Inn, come and experience them all.
Kayak fishing
You can also use our sit-on-top kayaks or our canoe to go fishing. There is always the option to bring your own as well. Keep in mind you will need a salt-water fishing license to fish from them. Grab one of our poles and some tackle to enjoy fishing in the deeper waters of the East River or Mobjack Bay. Deeper waters = More fish, so grab a paddle and a pole and enjoy a quiet day out with Mother Nature.
Dock your boat for free!
Bring your personal boat and dock at our private pier. We have had guest arrive by boat and also ones that bring a trailer. If you arrive by boat, make sure you book one of our suites where you can have your own kitchen area to cook, making it easier to stay in the area and to avoid having to get back and forth into town. If you do bring a trailer the best place to launch is at Town Point Landing, which is less than a 10 min car ride away. We have also just installed new protective rubber bumpers to protect your boat. We can only accommodate skiffs that are 18′ and under and the MLT is 3 ft. Please make sure you contact us if you want to bring a boat so we can give you all the navigation information that you will need.
Fish At Night!
Our fish-light on the dock allows for nighttime fishing as well. Not only is it cool just just go out at night to see, but it allows for guest to be able to fish when the sun isn’t beating down on you and when the world is quieter and calmer. Come check it out for a unique fishing adventure.
