Our bed and breakfast is located on the lower Chesapeake Bay in the quiet small town of Port Haywood in Mathews County, VA. Drive times vary, of course, but you can get here in less than half a day from just about anywhere in Virginia. Our beaches, galleries, boutiques, and fine dining are enough to keep you busy right around Mathews, but there’s plenty more to see and do in the surrounding areas.
Our close proximity to the historic sites and attractions of Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown makes it easy to enjoy the best of coastal Virginia… without all the noise. Yorktown, Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg are just across the York River with a lovely scenic drive. Yorktown – 45 min., Williamsburg – 60 min., Jamestown – 90 min.
Your trip to Virginia’s Middle Peninsula would not be complete without visiting the Northern Neck area, where you’ll enjoy tasting wine at multiple area vineyards, waterfront dining, and shopping the many boutiques, art galleries, and antique shops in Irvington, White Stone, and Kilmarnock. A gorgeous drive over the Piankatank and Rappahannock Rivers will get you there in a half hour or less.
