The Inn at Tabbs Creek at Port Haywood is located in Mathews County Virginia. The inn is owned and operated by Greg and Lori Dusenberry. Greg and Lori both are inspired by passions for the environment, organic gardening/farming, sustainable living & lodging, and green building practices. Our hope is to provide guests with a relaxing experience and share our love of nature.
Our eco-friendly Virginia bed and breakfast is all about supporting our local businesses and helping to restore our beloved Chesapeake Bay. We offer locally roasted coffee every morning and serve locally sourced farm-fresh eggs and sausage at breakfast as often as possible! More About Us
Both Greg and Lori graduated from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, North Carolina with BA degrees in Philosophy. Greg spent several years working and managing organic farms in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Then several more years as a chef in various restaurants around the Chapel Hill, NC area before becoming a buyer for Whole Foods Inc. Lori has been a Merchandising Manager, Small Business Owner, and spent 10 years in the Horticultural Industry as a certified Plant Professional.
Our Journey to Tabbs Creek
After visiting Lori’s parents here over the last 20 years or so, we decided to move to Mathews County in appreciation of its natural beauty and small town charm, in addition to its concern for environmental preservation and commitment to controlled growth and development. We decided to pursue our dream of running an eco-friendly inn with a large garden for growing our own food. In October 2008, we purchased The Inn at Tabbs Creek. The inn had operated off and on as a B&B previously for many years. We decided to undergo some major renovations to get the property fully up and running while adding our own personal style to every room.
