A Quiet Christmas at the Inn
Christmas at the Inn is both magical and humble. We love Christmastime here at our Virginia Bed and Breakfast, but we like to keep it casual and low key. White lights and natural decorations abound in the same spirit as Christmas in Williamsburg. We handcraft most of our holiday decorations using fresh natural trimmings from around the property. White pine, dried fruit, pinecones, as well as dried oyster and crab shells are how we deck our halls.
Just an hour from Colonial Williamsburg, you can easily visit and take part in various colonial activities. Holiday events, demonstrations and the Grand Illumination fireworks display happen the entire month of December. After a day of colonial celebrations head back to the Inn for the peace and quiet of our waterfront respite.
Holiday Happenings around the Area:
Mathews also offers a few small town Christmas charms that are always fun to participate in. The County kicks off the season with its Made in Mathews Open Studio Tour. This is a free driving tour of our local artisans studios and workshops. You can meet the artisans and get your Holiday gifts all at once! The Christmas Parade exudes small town charm and fun. Our favorite way to view the parade is from the porch of Southwind Pizza with our favorite beverage! From Williams Wharf landing you can view a lighted boat parade, weather permitting. The Mathews Visitor Center and historic downtown area are always decorated festively and our shops are great for unique gifts. For more to do in Mathews during winter read our blog post on Winter Activities!
While water activities are not on our list of Winter things to do, there is still plenty to see or do during the Winter Months at our Virginia Bed and Breakfast and during the Holiday season. Christmas at the Inn can also be enjoyed with family. The Inn at Tabbs Creek is also available for whole house rentals! Call us to inquire about celebrating Christmas at the Inn at Tabbs Creek.
