An Artists Open Studio Tour
Every November, the two weekends after Thanksgiving, Mathews County holds an open studio tour, named Made in Mathews. This is a unique driving trail where some of our local artist open their studios to showcase their works. There is no admission fee or ticket required. Simply visit their website to download a brochure and map, or stop into the Mathews Visitor Center or the Bay School to pick one up.
This trail has studios all over Mathews County, and the drive between stops on your tour is sure to be a pretty one. This Chesapeake Bay town is stunning in the late fall, and our little country roads make for a great weekend adventure. A perfect backdrop for this wonderful little tour.
Artisans
Larry and Rosalie Brown at Bentwaters farm are a favorite stop on the tour. The Browns will have sheep shearing and wool spinning demonstrations. There will be yarns for purchase and handmade wearable items, like gloves and scarves and even Christmas ornaments.
D’Lynn Designs is a stop sure to delight the jewelry wearer in your group. Lynn’s original fused glass and other glass creations make great gifts for yourself or that special someone.
Two of our favorite artists are a one stop shop. Husband and Wife, Tamara and Buzz Rollins will open their studio as well. Tamara is the creator behind Moonstruck Soaps. We use her soaps and lotions in our rooms at the Inn, and we sell our signature scents for purchase in our gift shop. Buzz is the guy behind Bloody’s by Buzz. Buzz creates the perfect Bloody Mary mix for your next Sunday brunch!
Renowned artist P. Buckley Moss returns to the Tour this year, and her showroom and distribution center will give you a behind the scenes look at everything Moss. From prints to porcelain to wine glasses. Moss’s work continues to possess positive messages of outlook and hope through the images she creates.
