Our Chesapeake Bay bed & breakfast is now offering pet friendly lodging! People love their fur babies. We have a few of them ourselves. Our dogs live with us in our private quarters, and many of our guests have enjoyed meeting them or even walked them on request. Many guests miss having their canine companions by their side. Other guests have expressed that although they miss their pup(s), they are a bit happy to have a break. We get that too, as we leave our dogs at home during the rare occasion we get away. However, we totally understand that some folks simply can’t leave their dogs behind for one reason or another.
Due to popular demand, we have made some of the rooms at our Virginia bed and breakfast DOG FRIENDLY!
Please carefully review our Pet Policy for The Inn at Tabbs Creek below.
Four Dog-Friendly Rooms
Two of our suites, the Chesapeake Suite & East River Suite are now “Dog Friendly” for one dog under 50 pounds or 2 dogs under 25 pounds each. Our Tabbs Room is also now pet-friendly for one dog under 50 lbs. Our Bayside Suite may also be available to accommodate a furry friend upon request.
There is a pet fee of $25.00 per pet per night. Of course, we have to set some restrictions, so please see the “fine print” that is our Pet Policy below.
As cute as puppies and cats are, we are not able to accommodate them, ONLY adult dogs. If you are missing your cat, our resident cat Chai that hangs out around the inn will be MORE than happy to let you spoil him. Just don’t let him talk you into letting him inside!
Activities with Your Dog
There are even several adventures to be had with your canine companion in our small little county of Mathews. Your pup will love exploring our beautiful local Chesapeake Bay beaches, all within a short drive of our waterfront B&B. Dog friends love exploring main street Mathews and the Farmers’ Market that is held downtown on Saturdays, April-October. During the warmer days, dogs are welcome on the front porch of Southwinds Café and Mi Casa Azteca Mexican café, as well as the outdoor deck of Hole in the Wall Waterfront Bar and Grill. Of course, there is always just hanging around our beautiful property! Guests and pups enjoy going on a country walk down our lane and “into the woods” via our neighborhood’s Magnolia Trail.
What if I am NOT a dog person?
We want all our guests to be comfortable, which is why the main house of the inn with its 3 guestrooms upstairs and the common space living areas and dining areas downstairs are still completely pet free. Guests with friendly dogs under a certain size are welcome to bring their dogs while also agreeing to keep all dogs on leashes and under their control. You can also rest assured that if you are staying in a suite or room that is designated as pet friendly, that we maintain a very high standard of cleaning for ALL our guestrooms. Pet fees go towards extra sanitation and oversight.
Even if you must find a sitter for the kids, you won’t have to worry about bringing your loyal canine companion along for the exploring, rest and relaxation.
After all…“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.” – John Grogan.
Don’t feel bad if you want or need to leave your pet at home as there’s always “Baye the Great Dane” and “Sprite the Rescue Mutt” who love to meet new friendly faces and get extra attention and walks!
Pet Policy at Inn at Tabbs Creek
To ensure the happiness and satisfaction of all our human and canine guests, we must have some rules in place.
- All dog guests must be well behaved and friendly towards others. Canine guests must always be kept on leash when outside of their room. They must be under the full control of their owners. No exceptions!
- Dogs are allowed in all outdoor common areas, decks and covered porches. They are not allowed in the main house, which remains pet-free.
- Dogs are allowed in the Pool area and Dock area, but dogs are not allowed in the pool or water. Owners will not leave dogs alone in guestrooms for long periods. Owners are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and will provide adequate bedding and supplies. Please clean up dog waste on property and care for any damage that may incur to property or rooms from pet(s).
- Crates are highly recommended, and please keep pets off furniture. Property owners reserve the right to ask guests to board their dogs if problems arise. This might include damage, excessive barking, or aggressive behavior without refund of fees or room.
